Tiesj Benoot seems to be enjoying his partnership with Lotto Soudal, as he has extended their contract until the end of 2019.
Benoot started his first pro season being on top form, claiming the fifth position at the Ronde van Vlaanderen. This season has been one of his best, when compared to his last season in which he suffered a misfortune that forced him to abandon his ambition for the spring in the Ronde.
Benoot suffered a crashed during the Ronde van Vlaanderen in 2016 that ended all his hope of setting a good result during the spring. However, Lotto Soudal is confident that the extension of their agreement till 2019 will further boost the riders’ development.
Marc Sergeant, sports manager at Lotto Soudal speaking on the contract extension had said,
“Tiesj will be a key rider in our team the next three years. The long-term agreement we have with our main sponsors enables us to focus on the future of our team. The confidence the sponsors have in this team, makes it possible to extend the contract of Tiesj Benoot until the end of 2019.” (more…)

Speaking from the Herald Sun Tour launch in Melbourne, Australia, the captained has reaffirmed his opinion that, come next year, Esteban Chaves will beat Chris Froome at the season opening races in Australia.
“I’m not sure of their (Sky’s) complete line-up, who else they are bringing out, but I think Esteban will have probably the upper hand on Chris at the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, purely because he’s going to have the Tour Down Under in his legs,” Gerrans said.
Chris Froome, who races from Team Sky, has won Tour de France three times with a remarkable performance. At the 2016 race, Froome and teammate Peter Kennaugh dominated the race right from stage one with a combination of skill and strength. There will be a steady an constant growth in the increasing number of riders and the numbers that enroll irrespective of rank, age and sex.
With the advancement in technology the “ordinary” or “boneshaker” or “penny farthing” has super ceded. By the middle of 1880s the bicycle started being referred to as the safety cycle and is currently seen in almost that form itself. An alternative to horse drawn transport was this practical and reasonable cycle.
However the above is still not considered to be the best form of development and transformation of the cycle into a usable element for making the everyday life more convenient. Veterinarian John Boyd Dunlop was the one to bring about the best transformation in Belfast. The man was trying to make his son’s tricycle comfortable for riding on the roads of the city filled with cobbles; John had used Pneumatic rubber tyres for the first time he thought. (more…)
